The campaign to stop Stuart Ayres’ plan to raise Warragamba Dam wall hit the world stage last month when the United Nations World Heritage Committee reported the impacts on the Blue Mountains World Heritage Area would be ‘significant' and required an urgent review of the NSW Government’s plans.

Now, Wollondilly and Blue Mountains Councils are holding a community consultation after calls from Traditional Owners for the Government to extend the submission time for the Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Assessment have been ignored. This comes after  1,000 people attended a protest in June against the dam raising.

Background

Following a release of a confidential Warragamba Dam Raising Draft Indigenous Cultural Heritage Assessment, Mayors of Blue Mountains, Mark Greenhill, and Wollondilly Shire, Matt Deeth, have invited Infrastructure NSW to attend an urgent public meeting with Traditional Owners.

Traditional Owners are now calling on the Infrastructure NSW to listen to their concerns about the assessment process and the lack of time they have been given to review the 2000-page assessment document.
